Everything you need to know...

Booking your first lesson

When getting in touch, please let us know your availability and we can then arrange a mutually agreeable time to start.   Following this, lessons are normally booked a week ahead whilst you are with your instructor, or by a fixed weekly time, whichever is preferred.

If there is any additional information we need to know, please make sure that we are made aware of this.  (E.g. if you want the lesson to start from an alternative address)

To get in touch, visit our contact page.

Driving Licence

You must have applied for and received your provisional licence before you can drive any vehicle in the UK.

Please be aware that you must bring your provisional licence with you to your first lesson, otherwise you will not be allowed to start the session.

You can apply for your provisional licence by visiting the gov.uk website below:

https://www.gov.uk/apply-first-provisional-driving-licence

Lesson Cancellations

Occasionally you may need to cancel and/or rearrange a lesson.  Ultimately if you cancel, it is very difficult for us to fill that slot at short notice.  If you need to cancel a lesson, please give as much notice as possible.  If lessons are frequently cancelled, we reserve the right to charge for missed lessons and/or stop providing driving instruction.

Our cancellation policy is on the Prices, Terms and Conditions page.

Additional Needs & Adjustments

If you have any needs that may affect your driving (such as a hearing impairment), please let us know in advance so that we can tailor your lessons as required.  Similarly, if you wear glasses, please ensure you bring them with you to your lessons.

Also, if you have any medical issues, please check whether these need to be declared to the DVLA.   Further information can be found on the DVLA website.

Footwear

We strongly recommend comfortable and flexible shoes, such as trainers/converse for your driving lessons.  High heels and rigid work boots will affect your ability to control the car as well as you would wish, and are therefore not recommended.

Similarly, sandals and flip-flops are unsuitable and are very difficult to drive in, so do not wear these for your lessons with us.

Sunglasses

If the weather is sunny (it does happen in the UK!), we strongly recommend that you bring sunglasses with you to your lesson so that your visibility of the road is not affected.

If you are going to be purchasing new sunglasses any time soon, those with a polarised lens are well worth the extra money when it comes to driving as they help reduce the amount of glare.

Payments

All payments must be made in advance of lessons commencing.  We accept cash on the day of the lesson.  Our current prices are available on this page and there are discounts available for block bookings.   Bank transfers are also accepted.

Receipts are available for cash transactions, if desired.

If you are wanting to pay for driving lessons as a gift, we have our own gift vouchers available.   These are provided free of charge when a block booking is made - just request this at the time of booking.

What do I need to bring to my first lesson?

  • Provisional Driving Licence
  • Sunglasses / Glasses (as required/appropriate)
  • Payment (if not already made)

It would also be useful to know your availability for future lessons, so that you have a better chance of getting the regular time that you prefer.

Regular weekly slots are the best way of ensuring the availability of your instructor.

Theory & Driving Tests

You do not need to have booked or passed the theory test to start driving lessons, although it would be very useful to start preparing.

This page has further information on booking and preparing for tests.

And finally...

...please remember that it's your lesson!  If you want to take a break, try something again, or have a go at something new, just ask!   As long as it's safe and practical at that time, we will do our upmost to make it happen.   This includes covering some of the non-compulsory activities within your lessons.   See the 'Optional Extras' section of our Services page for more information.
